2002 Historical Renovation Award

In 1998, the United Motors property at 4019 Prospect was a disappointment to all of us committed to the revitalization of this neighborhood – a MidTown success story had seemingly turned south in the blink of an eye. Restoration of the building had just gotten underway, but was abruptly halted as the deal fell through at the 11th hour. As if to rub salt in the wound, a fire soon broke out at the property and it seemed as though upper Prospect had taken a step backward. But local developer John Ferchill stepped in to revive the property as first–class office space. The property is now beautifully and faithfully restored as the home of the YWCA of Greater Cleveland and MidTown Cleveland. – Midtown Cleveland
